Jacksonville Sweeps Preseason Favorite FAU to Claim League Lead

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Junior Daniel Murphy and sophomore Matt Lopez each extended their hitting streaks to 10 games while senior LHP Aaron Parvey earned his fifth victory to lead the JU baseball team to an 11-4 win and a clean sweep over Florida Atlantic, Sunday afternoon at FAU Field.
The Dolphins (33-13, 15-6) earned their second A-Sun sweep this season (North Florida) and their first sweep over FAU since 1994. FAU (22-22, 8-13) finished with three more errors which led to three Dolphin runs.
"This weekend was huge for us because it puts us back on top of the conference," said JU head coach Terry Alexander. "Hopefully our bats can stay hot as we head into next week."
Parvey (5-1) earned the win after allowing only four hits in four shutout innings of relief. Freshman RHP Joey Wedner allowed two runs on two hits with two strikeouts in two innings of work to make his first career start. Freshman RHP Tim Brown picked up his second save of the season after closing out the final three innings. Murphy finished 3-for-4 to lead the Dolphin offense.
