Jacksonville Clinches First Berth in A-Sun Championship Presented by Progress Energy

KENNESAW, Ga. - Jacksonville swept their series opening doubleheader at Kennesaw State to become the first team to clinch a post in the upcoming A-Sun Championship Presented by Progress Energy on May 24-27 at Melching Field.
Sophomore LHP Matt Dobbins won his 10th game of the year and sophomore RHP Matt Davis closed out the game with his fourth save to lead the JU baseball team to an 8-6 win over Kennesaw State, Saturday afternoon in the first game of a doubleheader at Stillwell Stadium.
Junior Pete Clifford's solo home run in the seventh put the Dolphins up for good while junior RHP D.J. Ackley and junior RHP Justin Young combined to lead the JU baseball team to a 5-4 win in game two of a doubleheader, Saturday evening at Stillwell Stadium.
"We were rolling early but they came back on us in the middle innings," said JU head coach Terry Alexander, who has lead the Dolphins to six consecutive A-Sun series wins. "We responded and now we're in position to sweep our third conference series this season."
The two teams conclude their series with a 1:00 pm tilt on Sunday afternoon.
