Three Florida Atlantic University baseball players participated in the National Baseball Congress World Series when the Prairie Gravel captured the title on Sunday. Chris Salberg, Alex Silversmith and incoming pitcher Joe Schmal were all part of the championship team.

The team defeated Santa Barbara 9-1 in the final game after taking a 7-4 decision earlier in the day in the elimination game. Left-handed pitcher Salberg earned the win in the first game as he threw 2 2/3 innings in relief and struck out four.

A junior transfer from South Suburban College, Schmal will be another lefty on the FAU pitching staff. The Indiana native threw 7 innings and did not allow an earned run in the semifinal game.

Catcher, Alex Silversmith earned NBC All-American Team recognition as the starting catcher for the Gravel and closed out the World Series with a 1-for-4 performance at the plate with two RBI and a run scored.
