Wednesday, February 15, 2006 GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Mercer baseball struck out 11 Florida Gators and allowed just two unearned runs as they defeated the #1 ranked team in the nation at McKethan Stadium on Wednesday night, 3-2. Josh Young earned his first win of the season, in relief of Blake Quarles. Young recorded six strikeouts in three innings, allowing just one hit and one walk. “This is without a doubt the biggest win we have since I’ve been at Mercer,” head coach Craig Gibson said. “Our pitchers were as sharp as they possibly could be and really set the tone. We took advantage of the chances we had at the plate and played outstanding defense. I could not be happier for out team right now.” |
