Stetson vs. LSU
DeLand, Fla.

The Stetson Hatters will host the LSU Tigers this weekend. The Tigers had a down year in 2006, not making the NCAA Torunament for the first time in 17 season. They finished the year with an overall record of 35-24. Paul Mainieri replaced Smoke Laval as head coach, to help LSU regain its national prominence. Stetson, the A-Sun preseason pick to win the conference tournament, took 2 of 3 on their opening weekend aginst Southern Illinois. LSU swept St. Mary’s in Baton Rouge to start the season 3-0. LSU posted an SEC worst 6.87 ERA in 2006.

A-Sun Player of the Week
Justin Aughey (Sr. - C – Davie, Fla. – Criminal Justice Major)
Aughey hit .455 on the weekend with one home run and three RBI. The senior crushed his first homer in his first at bat of the season Friday night. The Davie, Fla. native had two crucial RBI in the Bucs’ 5-3, 13-inning victory Saturday afternoon. For the series, Aughey went 5-for-11 at the plate with a double, two runs scored and a .818 slugging percentage.

A-Sun Pitcher of the Week
Chris Ingoglia (Sr.- RHP – Boynton Beach, Fla. - Marketing Major)
Preseason All-Conference starting pitcher, Chris Ingoglia, pitched 6 scoreless innings, striking out 8 batters, while allowing only 4 singles to earn the series-clinching win over Southern Illinois. Ingoglia improved to 16-2 inhis career at Melching Field.
