Macon, Ga. - The Atlantic Sun Conference office announced that North Florida senior, Jimmy Glanville, has been named the Player of the Week. Mercer senior right-handed pitcher, Brantley New, has been named Pitcher of the Week.

This is the first player of the week award won by a North Florida student-athlete this season. Matt Oxendine was awarded player of the week in March of 2006. This is Brantley New's first pitcher of the week award of 2007. New won the award in the 2006 season's first week.

Jimmy Glanville, UNF (Sr. - 1B - Gainesville, Fla. - Public Relations): Jimmy Glanville hit .563 (9-for-16) at the plate last week in a game against in-state rival and three games against conference foe Campbell. Glanville compiled eight RBIs along with five doubles and four runs scored. Against his hometown team Florida, Glanville chomped down on the Gators and went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, two runs scored and a double in leading UNF to a 15-8 upset drubbing of UF. Glanville followed it up over the weekend by going 6-for-11 against Campbell along with five RBIs, four doubles and two runs scored.

For the week, Glanville hit .563 (9-16) with 8 RBI, 5 doubles, 4 runs and 3 walks. For the season, Glanville is hitting .313 with 8 home runs, 18 doubles, 38 RBI and 22 walks.

Brantley New, Mercer (Sr. - RHP - Dublin, Ga. - Business Management): Brantley New pitched nine innings against Gardner-Webb, only allowing one run and striking out 8 batters. Mercer ended up dropping the contest in the 11th inning. New has a 3.13 ERA on the season in 95.0 innings pitched. He has struck out 83 batters, winning 5 games. New's 3.13 ERA ranks third in the Atlantic Sun, and his 83 strikeouts ranks third as well.

In conference action, New has a 3-1 record with a 2.29 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 59 innings of work.

The Atlantic Sun Conference hands out Player and Pitcher of the Week awards weekly during the 2007 baseball season.

The 12-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, UNF and Stetson with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate beginning competition in 2007-08.

Had two hits in each of Gardner-Webb's games vs. second-place Mercer this past weekend, leading the team to a key series win.

Packy Elkins, Belmont (Fr. - SS - Raleigh, N.C. - Business Administration)
Elkins was a perfect four-for-four against Tennessee on Wednesday, with homeruns in his first two at-bats.

Carlton Floyd, Campbell (So. - OF -Riegelwood, N.C. - Pre-Pharmacy)
Floyd extended his current hit streak to 11 games with a .500 (10-20) week, including three, three-hit games.

Logan James, Jacksonville (Sr. - 2B -Clearwater, Fla. -Business and Finance)
For the week, James batted .538 (7-13) with two doubles, a triple, four RBI and 11 total bases.

Shane Jordan, Stetson (Sr. - OF - Sarasota, Fla. - Management)
Moved into 3rd place in the A-Sun's career runs scored list, while batting .421 (8-for-19) for the week.

Jay Morrow, Kennesaw State (Jr. - LF - Roswell, Ga. - Business Management)
Morrow hit 667 (6-for-9) during the weekend series, hitting safely in all three games while driving home six runs and scoring four.

Eric Renfroe, Mercer (Sr. - OF - Macon, Ga. - Business)
Renfroe leads Mercer in conference with a .388 batting average, three home runs, a .600 slugging % and a. 485 on-base percentage.

Dan Dale, Kennesaw State (Sr. - LHP - Cary, Ill. - Health and Exercise Science)
Pitched 8.2 innings against Belmont for the win. Allowed 2 earned runs and struck out 5 Bruins.

Matt Gardner, Jacksonville (Sr. - SP -Livermore, Calif. -Business)
For the week, Gardner was 1-0 with a save, a 3.24 ERA and four strikeouts in 8.1 innings.

Taylor Merry, Lipscomb (Fr. - RHP - Brentwood, Tenn. - Marketing)
Merry threw 7 plus innings, allowing just one run on five hits. Merry's fourth win of the season against nationally ranked Stetson.

Renzo Sheppard, UNF (Sr. - LHP - Jacksonville, Fla. - Communications)
Sheppard pitched the game of his life against in-state rival Florida, striking out six Gators in-a-row and eight of the 10 he faced.
