DeLand, Fla. – The Stetson University baseball team will open the 2008 season ranked 36th in the Collegiate Baseball Fabulous 40 Pre-Season NCAA Division I poll. The Hatters finished last season with a 42-21 overall record, an Atlantic Sun regular season Championship, and an appearance in the NCAA Regionals. Stetson received 408 points in the poll.

The top five teams in the poll are Arizona (496 points), South Carolina (493 points), Arizona State (491 points), Mississippi (487 points), and North Carolina (486 points). Stetson is the only Atlantic Sun Conference school listed. Other Florida schools included are Florida State (468 points) ranked 12th and the University of Miami (464 points) in the 14th position.

The Hatters are scheduled to play two teams listed in the poll in 2008. Stetson will play at Louisiana State University (30th, 423 points) March 7-9, and play a home-and-home series with FSU March 25 and 26 in Tallahassee, and April 29 and 30 in DeLand.
