Stetson senior Jeremy Cruz has been named to the 2009 Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America third team at first base. The Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America Team is selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper. Cruz is the only player in the Atlantic Sun Conference to receive this honor.

This is the second preseason honor for the 6-1, 230 infielder from Miami. He was also named to the Wallace Watch list earlier in December.

Last season he was voted Second Team All-Conference at first base. He tied for the team lead and was second in the conference in batting with a .404 average and was tops on the Hatters in home runs with 15 and RBI with 57. He led the A-Sun in slugging percentage at .704 and was second in hits with 90. An outstanding defensive first baseman he committed just 12 errors in 538 chances for a .978 fielding percentage. Cruz is a career .342 hitter at Stetson.
