ETSU’s Reeder and FGCU’s Sale Snag Accolades

MACON, Ga. – ETSU’s Bo Reeder slugged four home runs to earn Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honors while FGCU’s Chris Sale picked up his second consecutive Pitcher of the Week honor with another double-digit strikeout performance. 

Reeder, a sophomore infielder, posted a blistering .522 (12-23) average, with a double, four home runs and 11 RBIs this past week. The Cookeville, Tenn. native recorded a home run in each of the Stetson games as the Bucs went on to sweep the Hatters at home and move into second place in the conference. Reeder, a sports management major, slugged 1.087 with a .556 on base percentage in the week, while scoring 11 runs including the game-winning runs in the first two games of the series.

Sale moved the FGCU baseball team past No. 23 Clemson, 4-2, Saturday evening in Clemson, S.C at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. Fresh off an FGCU record setting 15-strikeout outing, the Lakeland, Fla. native posted another noteworthy performance in the game one start. Improving his record to 7-0 on the year with the win, the junior lefty went eight full innings and allowed just two earned runs on four hits, with 10 strikeouts against the nationally ranked Tigers. Sale owns103 strikeouts on the season with just 11 walks in 75 innings pitched.

Other Top Performers          
Alex Aycoth, Campbell (Sr. - 1B - Sanford, Fla. - Business Administration) – Aycoth batted .538 this weekend while collecting nine RBIs, in addition to a triple, double and a homerun. The Sanford, Fla. native also earned himself three free passes due to a walk. Aycoth’s homerun in the final game of the series against non-conference opponent North Carolina Central, scored the go-ahead run for the Fighting Camels. The senior helped lead an offense that scored 66 runs in 4 games, as well as 53 hits in just 28 innings of play.

Bo Burton, ETSU (Jr. - RHP- Kingsport, Tenn. - Education) – Burton had a career week for ETSU, going 3-1 in four appearances. The Kingsport, Tenn. native threw 8.1 innings of scoreless relief, including no-hitting Tennessee Tech in four innings in a 13 inning game and shutting down Stetson in the first two games of the series. Burton came into the Friday game against Stetson with the bases loaded and one out in a 7-7 game and got a pop up in the infield and a strikeout to get out the threat. The junior righty went on to finish out the game picking up his second win of the week.
