ATLANTA, Ga. - The top three batters in the Mercer lineup combined for five hits, but that would be all the Bears could produce in a 10-0 loss to No. 8 Georgia Tech in NCAA Regional play.

Yellow Jacket starter Mark Pope went the distance to imporve to 7-1 on the season and move his team into a winners brakcet showdown with Alabama tomorrow. Brandon Love took the loss for Mercer, falling to 8-3. The Bears will face Southern Conference foe Elon in an elimination game on Saturday at 3:00pm.

While Pope controlled from the hill, Tony Plagman owned the plate. The first baseman went 5-for-5 with a pair of homers, a solo shot in the first inning and a two-run bomb in the second. A three-run fourth inning put the Jackets (45-13) in firm control.

Atlantic Sun Tournament MVP Jacob Tanis picked up where he left off last week with a pair of hits while Billy Burns added two singles of his own.
