Sunday, April 17, 2011 Belmont head coach Dave Jarvis won his 700th career game as the Bruins swept a doubleheader from ETSU at Shelby Park. Jarvis has averaged over 31 wins per year during his 22-year career. Win 700 came in dramatic fashion behind the arm of right-hander Matt Hamann. Making just his third start of the season, Hamann did not allow a runner to reach second base or advance past first until the ninth where a double sandwiched around two walks loaded the bases for A-Sun Preseason Player of the Year Paul Hoilman. With the Bruins leading 2-0, Jarvis visited with his hurler and chose to leave him in the game rather than go to all-conference reliever Jon Ivie. The trust paid off for the Bruins as Hamaan induced a game-ending double play to secure the milestone victory. Find out more at BelmontBruins.com. |
