Walker Named Baseball Player of the Week

MACON, Ga. – Belmont starting pitcher Matt Hamann fired a three-hit shutout to silence the potent ETSU offense over the weekend and win his second Atlantic Sun Pitcher of the Week honor. Jacksonville sophomore Adam Brett Walker powered the Dolphins to a sweep of Campbell with a monster week, driving in 13 runs, and collecting at least two hits in all four Jacksonville games to win his first career Player of the Week honor.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK:

Matt Hamann, Belmont (SP – Jr. – Northbrook, Ill. – Finance) • Second A-Sun Pitcher of the Week award

• Tossed a complete game three-hit shutout against ETSU

• Recorded nine strikeouts

• Induced a game-ending double play off the bat of reigning A-Sun Player of the Year Paul Hoilman to escape a bases loaded jam and preserve the 2-0 victory

• Improved to 4-1 on the season

OTHER NOMINEES:

• Tyler Moore (SP, UNF) – Shutout defending A-Sun Champion Mercer to clinch the series for UNF

• David Roseboom (SP/RP, USC Upstate) – Picked up first career win against Lipscomb

• Bryan Blough (SP, Kennesaw State) – Struck out eight en route to shutting out FGCU

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:

Adam Brett Walker, Jacksonville (3B – So. – Milwaukee, Wis. – Sports Administration) • First career A-Sun Player of the Week award

• Led Dolphins to a perfect 4-0 week, including a conference sweep of Campbell

• Hit .611 with four doubles, two home runs and 13 RBI.

• Moved into the top-10 on JU’s career home run list

• Slugged 1.167 for the week

OTHER NOMINEES:

• Mark Jones (SS, Stetson) – Hit .500 on the week with two home runs and nine RBI

• Ray Anderson (OF, Kennesaw State) – Extended hitting streak to 11 games with hits in all five games

• Jacob Tanis (3B, Mercer) – Hit .412 with three home runs and seven RBI for the week

• Greg Brody (2B, Belmont) – Led Bruins to 4-0 week with .500 batting average and five RBI

• Andrew Karmeris (1B, UNF) – Hit .529 with one home run and four RBI

• Tyler Miller – (OF, USC Upstate) – Hit .545 over the weekend with two runs scored

• Jimmy Brenneman – (OF, Campbell) – Drove in seven runs while hitting .474 and collecting 11 total bases
