MACON, Ga. – Stetson's Mitchel Brennan and Belmont's Matt Hamann earned their second Atlantic Sun Conference Baseball weekly honors of the season, announced Monday by the league office. Brennan led the Hatters to a three-game sweep of Lipscomb, while Hamann posted his third complete game of the season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Mitchel Brennan, Stetson (OF – Jr. – Orlando, Fla. – Finance)
- Second Career A-Sun Player of the Week award; second this season
- Led Hatters to first A-Sun sweep of the season
- Batted .500 with two doubles and five RBI
- Posted a .667 slugging and .563 on-base percentages
- Moved Hatters into fourth place in the A-Sun with three-game sweep
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Brody Greer (SS, USC Upstate) - Helped Spartans stretch win streak to seven games with sweep of Jacksonville
- Matt Beaty (IF, Belmont) - Led Bruins with seven runs batted in with a .375 average at the plate
- Adam Brett Walker II (1B/OF, Jacksonville) - Batted .588 with five RBI and five extra-base hits
PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
Matt Hamann, Belmont (SP – Sr. – Northbrook, Ill. – Sport Administration)
- Fourth Career A-Sun Pitcher of the Week; second this season
- Recorded third complete game of the season in 11-1 win vs. Kennesaw State
- Allowed only one run, while tying season-best six strikeouts
- Walked no batters in the contest, while surrending eight hits
OTHER NOMINEES:
- David Roseboom (P, USC Upstate) - Struck out a career-best eight batters in no-decision effort vs. Jacksonville
- Alex McRae (RHP, Jacksonville) - Struck out six in 7.1 innings with no earned runs allowed
- Kurt Schluter (SP, Stetson) - Posted complete game effort vs. Lipscomb with only two runs allowed
- Hunter Brothers (RP, Lipscomb) - Fanned 11 batters in two appearances; allowed only one hit
