Young, Doane Guide Teams to Sweeps; #ASunBSB Honors

MACON, Ga. - Mercer and ETSU both earned sweeps in Atlantic Sun baseball action over the weekend and as a result collected the A-Sun weekly honors, announced Monday by the league office. The Bears' Chesny Young led the Bears to a series sweep vs. No. 24 FGCU, while ETSU's Kerry Doane started the weekend by blanking Lipscomb, 8-0, in his third career shutout.

  • Second Career A-Sun Player of the Week honor; second of the year
  • Guided Bears to a three-game sweep of No. 24 FGCU at home
  • Amassed eight hits on three multi-hit games; added four RBI
  • Delivered a walk-off RBI single on Saturday for a 4-3 win vs. FGCU
  • Tallied two extra-base hits vs. Eagles including a homer in series finale
  • Batted .444 on the week (8-for-18) with a .500 on-base percentage
  • Dylan Tritsch (OF, ETSU) - Hit .500 on the week with five runs scored; totaled three multi-hit games
  • Tyler Selesky (IF, FGCU) - Scored four runs in four games from the lead off spot; added four hits
  • Patrick Mazeika (C/1B, Stetson) - Extended hitting streak to 21 games; batted .571 for the week
  • Max Pentecost (C, Kennesaw State) - Totaled four extra-base hits with three doubles in four games for KSU
  • Pat Hyde (C, Northern Kentucky) - Drove in six of NKU's seven runs vs. UNF on Saturday with four hits
  • Ryan Roberson (CI, North Florida) - Belted three homers in a 4-0 week for the Ospreys; totaled five RBI

  • First Career Pitcher of the Week honor; second for ETSU this season
  • Tossed his third career shutout and NCAA leading seventh complete game
  • Fanned eight Lipscomb batters in the 8-0 win on Friday
  • Allowed only seven combined hits in 11 innings pitched on the week
  • Bucs stretched A-Sun winning streak to six games with second-straight sweep
  • Lowered season ERA to 1.96 and increased record to 7-1
  • Austin Perez (LHP, Stetson) - Ran his record to 3-0 in A-Sun play; leads the Hatters with a 5-1 overall record
  • David Teasley (RHP, Mercer) - Made four appearances out of the bullpen; struck out 12 batters in 8.1 innings of work
  • Tommy Organ (LHP, North Florida) - Earned the win on Friday vs. NKU with only three hits allowed over 6.2 innings
  • Steve Janas (P, Kennesaw State) - Earned his fifth win of the season and fourth in a row on Friday night
  • Tim Clark (LHP, Northern Kentucky) - Made two appearances for NKU; totaled seven innings with only one earned run allowed
  • Alex McRae (P, Jacksonville) - Pitched a complete-game shutout win vs. Kennesaw State on Saturday
