Matchups of the Week

ETSU at Mercer
Lipscomb at Jacksonville
GWU at UNF

With two spots remaining in the A-Sun tourney, and three teams fighting to get in, these three matchups will determine who continues playing in 2007. Gardner-Webb will lose out in a three-way tie, but they hold the tiebreaker over Lipscomb. ETSU holds the tiebreaker over GWU, and Lipscomb has the tiebreaker over ETSU. Each team is on the road this weekend. ETSU’s road record sits at 12-13, Lipscomb is at 12-16 and GWU is 6-16. With the Bulldogs sitting a game back in the standings, they will be looking for the sweep at North Florida. Player of the Week

A-Sun Player of the Week
Jimmy Glanville, UNF (Sr. - 1B - Gainesville, Fla. - Public Relations)
Jimmy Glanville hit .563 (9-for-16) at the plate last week in a game against in-state rival and three games against conference foe Campbell. Glanville compiled eight RBIs along with five doubles and four runs scored. Against his hometown team Florida, Glanville chomped down on the Gators and went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, two runs scored and a double in leading UNF to a 15-8 upset drubbing of UF. Glanville followed it up over the weekend by going 6-for-11 against Campbell along with five RBIs, four doubles and two runs scored. For the week, Glanville hit .563 (9-16) with 8 RBI, 5 doubles, 4 runs and 3 walks. For the season, Glanville is hitting .313 with 8 home runs, 18 doubles, 38 RBI and 22 walks.

A-Sun Pitcher of the Week
Brantley New, Mercer (Sr. - RHP - Dublin, Ga. - Business Management)
Brantley New pitched nine innings against Gardner-Webb, only allowing one run and striking out 8 batters. Mercer ended up dropping the contest in the 11th inning. New has a 3.13 ERA on the season in 95.0 innings pitched. He has struck out 83 batters, winning 5 games. New's 3.13 ERA ranks third in the Atlantic Sun, and his 83 strikeouts ranks third as well.In conference action, New has a 3-1 record with a 2.29 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 59 innings of work.

A-Sun Record Watch
- Lipscomb's Caleb Joseph is currently tied for 10th on the single-season doubles list with 25. Stetson's Frank Corr set the record with 34 doubles in 2000.
- Fifteen pitchers have finished a season with a sub 2.00 ERA. Corey Kluber of Stetson enters the final week of the regular season with an ERA of 2.27
- ETSU's Caleb Glafenhein has a conference-leading 13 wins. That total currently puts him tied for 8th place all-time in the A-Sun. Joey Hamilton of Georgia Southern set the record with 18 wins in 1990.
- Stetson's Robbie Elsemiller has 30 career saves which puts him in 2nd place for career saves in the Atlantic Sun.
- Cory Gearrin has 12 saves on the season tying for 10th most in a season all-time. Elsemiller sits at 11 saves for the season, which places him17th in the A-Sun recordbook. Jamie Emiliano of Florida International set the single-season record with 16 saves in 1995.
- Stetson's Shane Jordan has 323 career hits, which puts him 2nd on the A-Sun all-time list. Belmont's Wilson Tucker currently sits 10th on the career hits list with 266 hits.
- Tucker's career batting average is currently .359, which ties him for 16th all-time.
- Stetson's Chris Ingoglia has 80 career appearances, which ties him for 4th on the all-time list

CHAMPIONSHIP NOTE OF THE WEEK
Stetson clinched the regular season championship this past week. Belmont, Mercer and Jacksonville have also clinched bids into the A-Sun tourney. Lipscomb, ETSU and Gardner-Webb will battle it out for the final two spots. Gardner-Webb owns the tiebreaker over Lipscomb, ETSU holds a tiebreaker over GWU, and Lipscomb owns the tiebreaker of ETSU.

2007 ATLANTIC SUN CHAMPIONSHIP PRESENTED BY PROGRESS ENERGY
Melching Field at Conrad Park: One of the most picturesque, fan-friendly stadiums in the nation, Melching Field at Conrad Park will host the Atlantic Sun Championship for the sixth consecutive season. At a cost of $4.5 million, Melching Field was the result of a joint effort between Stetson University, DeLand Sports Redevelopment Association and the City of DeLand. Built on the same site as old Conrad Park, Melching Field opened on Feb. 12, 1999 as the Hatters defeated Louisville 4-3 before an overflow crowd of 2,874 fans.
