Tucson, Ariz. - Collegiate Baseball Newspaper
released the Lousiville Slugger Freshman All-Americans today and three A-Sun student-athletes
were honored. Freshman of the year and second team all-conference selection Rex
Brothers of Lipscomb, second team selection Casey Frawley of Stetson, and first
team all-conference selection T.J. Thompson of North Florida were all selected
by Collegiate Baseball.
Rex Brothers held opponents to a .208 batting
average and posted a 7-4 record, 3.51 ERA and fanned 93 batters in 16 games. Brothers
was named A-Sun player of the week on April 9 and helped lead the Bisons to their
first appearance in the Atlantic Sun baseball tournament.
Casey Frawley
batted .303 with 28 RBI and six stolen bases while showing advanced defensive
skills at second base. Frawley batted second in the lineup for a majority of the
season and was among the team and league leaders in sacrifice hits and sacrifice
flies. This is the 16th time a Hatter freshman has earned all-america status.
Chris Ingoglia (2004), Shane Jordan (2004), David Golliner (2005), and Chris Johnson
(2005) have also been honored in the last four years for Stetson.
T.J.
Thompson, a first team all-conference selection, finished second on North Florida
with a .326 batting average. He also came through in the clutch on several occasions
for the Ospreys, tallying five game-winning RBIs. In the last third of the season,
Thompson stepped into the leadoff role and put together a .400 on-base percentage
along with 10 doubles.
Stetson's Corey Kluber and Jacksonville's Pete Clifford
were selected to the second team Louisville Slugger All-American team last week
by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
