on the weekend as they dropped a pair of road games, first to No. 18 NC State,
8-2, and followed with a 7-1 loss at Elon.

it to the conference tournament.
Florida
Gulf Coast * FGCU moved closer to an
Atlantic Sun Championship in baseball this weekend. The Eagles have a four-game
lead with six to play. The Eagles need to go 3-3 over the last six to clinch
FGCU’s third A-Sun championship in their first year as a Division I program.

has an 11-4 record, 8 saves and a 2.46 ERA. In this weekend’s series win at
Stetson, the Bullpen came through again. FGCU relievers worked 7.0 innings and
went 1-0 with a save. They limited the Hatters to three hits and posted a 1.29
ERA.
* Jason Peacock was kept off base for the first time this season
in FGCU’s 7-4 loss at Stetson on Saturday night. The senior 1B has only been
held hitless six times, but in each of the previous five games he had reached

in 33 of his 43 games this season and leads the A-Sun in on base percentage
at .534.

without being shutout.
* FGCU also recorded their 30th win, the program has reached
at least 35 games in each of the previous five seasons. The Eagles need four
more wins in their last nine games to reach that mark for the sixth consecutive
year.
Gardner-Webb
* Gardner-Webb won its fourth road A-Sun series in a
row, taking both ends of Saturday's doubleheader at Kennesaw State, 6-4 and
11-4. GWU has now won consecutive road series at Belmont, ETSU, Mercer and Kennesaw
State - posting a 9-3 record in those games.
* Outfielder Brock Miller moved to fifth on GWU's all-time stolen
bases list, swiping three at Kennesaw State. The junior now has 43 in his career,
and has been successful in 32 of his last 33 attempts, dating back to last season.
The Alma, Ga., native has been thrown out just four times in his career at Gardner-Webb
(43-of-47).
* Miller ranks among the A-Sun leaders and paces Gardner-Webb
with eight outfield assists in 2008. Miller has also played second base, shortstop
and third base in 2008, and has totaled 15 assists in the infield.
* Slugger Justin Loyd has been sizzling in his last 10 games,
batting .425 with 10 runs scored, three home runs and eight RBI. The Laurinburg,
N.C., junior is among the A-Sun's best this season with a .375 batting average,
seven home runs and 41 RBI - in addition to flashing strong leather at third
base.

average against the Bulldogs. Bishop also drove in a team-best four runs in
the series.

opener, the beneficiary of seven KSU runs in the seventh inning of the 11-5
victory. Heckathorn went seven innings, the longest outing of the season for
the sophomore, and matched a season-high with eight strikeouts.

visits in a battle for third place in the A-Sun. The teams will play a doubleheader
on Saturday and a single game on Mother's Day Sunday.
USC

to win 13 of their 21 games this season, including scoring its first go-ahead
runs in the sixth inning or later nine times.

Bisgounis has hit .326 (32-for-98) with 22 runs and 21 RBIs.
* In his last seven outings, junior Phillip Myers has tossed
15.1 innings in six relief appearances and one start, posting a 2.87 ERA and
a 1-0 record. He has struck out nine and walked four.
* Junior Eric Guillen is one hit shy of becoming the 25th player
in school history to record 50 hits in two seasons in his career.
* Senior Andrew Runion’s nine homers this year are the most
since Kyle Bowley hit nine as a freshman in 2004. No Spartan has hit 10 homers
in a season since Callahan Morden hit 11 in 1999.
* Freshman Blake Green is 26th in the nation and second in the
A-Sun in sacrifice bunts, laying down 11 this season.
* Senior Scott Eckard’s 13 career complete games are four more
than the next closest, as Eric Hunter finished nine starts from 1986-89.
Stetson *This past week the Hatters hosted a pair of mid-week
games versus the #3 Florida State Seminoles and then a weekend series with Florida
Gulf Coast. After falling 13-3 to FSU Tuesday night, the Hatters came back with
a strong effort on Wednesday. Stetson jumped out to a three-run lead on a home
run by Brian Pruitt; his first of the season. The home team held the lead going
into the 9th inning until the Seminoles scored five runs and won by a score
of 6-3.
* Friday night against FGCU Stetson once again held the lead,
yet lost it when the Eagles scored a pair of runs in the 9th, and again in the
12th inning to secure the win. On Saturday Stetson controlled the action and
defeated FGCU 7-4. Sunday’s rubber-game went to the visitors 5-3.
* Sophomore shortstop Casey Frawley led the offensive effort
on the week with a .412 batting average, seven hits, one triple, one home run
and three RBI. Justin Bass hit .368 over the week, yet was even more impressive
in the FGCU series going 6-for-11 with a double, four runs scored and two RBI.
Bass is now batting .389 on the season and leads the A-Sun in hits and doubles.
He is now the first Hatter to lead the team in batting other than Jeremy Cruz
(.388).
* This week Stetson will host USC Upstate in a very important
A-Sun series. Saturday will be senior day for Stetson with Justin Bass, Nick
Pugliese, Blake Marsocci, Robbie ElsemillerLouis Michaelos and Josh Clendenin
all playing in their final home games.
