Atlantic Sun Hosts 2005-06 Media Day

Macon, Ga. – The Atlantic Sun Conference and East Tennessee State University hosted the 2005-06 men’s basketball media day event on Monday, October 10.

Over 25 media members attended the event.

The event was held at the Carnegie Hotel in Johnson City, Tenn., across the street from ETSU’s Memorial Center, site of the 2006 General Shale Atlantic Sun Championship. All 11 league coaches were featured on an hour-and-a-half long Tip-Off Show hosted by ETSU play-by-play announcer Jay Sandos and former Auburn and ETSU coach Sonny Smith. Additionally, each coach spent time with print and television media as well as taping promotional pieces for the league’s Friday night television package, the A-Sun/CSS Game of the Week.

The conference office also officially released the 2005-06 preseason polls, player of the year and all-conference team.

Practices will begin on October 15 with the regular season tipping off on November 13-14 when Lipscomb heads to Lexington, Ky., to participate in Guardians Classic opening round play with Northern Colorado, South Dakota State and Kentucky.

The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.
