BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb overcame an icy night shooting the basketball, outscoring Mercer 11-2 in overtime to take a 67-58 win over the Bears in a key Atlantic Sun Conference matchup.

Simon Conn finished with 20 points, a career-high 18 rebounds and a school-record seven blocked shots to pace Gardner-Webb, scoring 14 of his points in the final 25 minutes. The Melbourne, Australia, native helped limit Mercer star Will Emerson to just two points in the second half, as the Runnin’ Bulldogs (4-2, 2-0 A-Sun) moved into first place in the league by clamping down on defense down the stretch.
