Macon, Ga. -- The Music City will be buzzing as Lipscomb and Belmont clash in the Battle of the Boulevard Friday. Belmont hosts the A-Sun/CSS Game of the Week, which is scheduled for a 7:30 pm tip-off. Matt Stewart and Sonny Smith will be on hand to give play-by-play and color analysis for the regionally televised game.

This long standing rivalry between the 2006 regular season co-champs is one of the most popular in the Atlantic Sun, with Lipscomb holding a 66-47 all-time series advantage over Belmont.

Lipscomb forward Eddie Ard, the preseason pick for the Atlantic Sun Player of the Year, has kicked his game into high gear. In his last four games, he has set a season high with 25 points at Kennesaw State and tied his season high with 25 against Stetson. In between those two games he scored 24 at ETSU. And most recently he scored 24 against Mercer. He is now second in the conference in scoring with 16.9 including 20.7 per game in conference matchups.

Belmont has bolted out of the gates in conference play with the best A-Sun start in their history at 6-0. The Bruins have been outscoring their opponents by an average of 22.6 points per game in A-Sun play. However, the team also has won only two close games of the six, winning 75-74 in overtime at ETSU and 73-71 over Stetson. Averaging 15.3 points per outing, Justin Hare leads the Bruins' balanced attack.

Last season, the Bruins topped the Bisons at home 81-65 and 74-69 in the A-Sun Championship game, but lost when they went across town, 85-97 in overtime.
