Monday, February 05, 2007 MACON, Ga. Junior Ronell Wooten continued his recent standout play, joining Kennesaw States 1000-Point Club and earning Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week honors as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. Wooten had a stellar week as he led the Owls to a 2-0 record and big wins over Campbell and Gardner-Webb. In Friday night's A-Sun/CSS Game of the Week, the Statesboro, Ga., native got it done on both ends of the court, scoring 21 points to go with a season-high six steals. In that game, the forward became the ninth player in school history to eclipse the 1000-point barrier. Then on Sunday against Gardner-Webb, he finished with 22 points and five rebounds. The Sports Management major started the game with 20 first-half points including five three pointers. For the year, Wooten ranks second in the A-Sun with his 2.58 three-pointers per game and eighth in scoring at 14.5 points per game. The Atlantic Sun Conference hands out Player of the Week awards weekly during the 2006-07 mens basketball campaign. The 12-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, UNF and Stetson with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate beginning competition in 2007-08.
