Courtesy ASunPhotos.com Sunday, November 25, 2007 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The JU men's basketball team dropped its first game of the season as UAB used a late run in the first half with a long-range attack and never looked back, handing the Dolphins an 84-72 loss on Saturday afternoon at Bartow Arena. UAB hit nine 3-pointers in the game, with Robert Vaden hitting seven en route to a game-high 25 points. Vaden was one of three Blazers in double figures, with Aaron Johnson and Lawrence Kinnard adding 10 each. Four Dolphins scored in double figures led by Marcus Allen's 14 points. The junior center hit 4-of-6 from the floor and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. "UAB came out and took it to us in the opening minutes," said JU head coach Cliff Warren. "We played hard the entire 40 minutes and I'm encouraged with our play in the second half."
