Buccaneers, Spartans Duel on CSS Monday Night Special

MACON, Ga. - Two teams look to extend modest win streaks when USC Upstate travels to Johnson City, Tenn. to take on ETSU in a special Monday night edition of the CSS Atlantic Sun Game of the Week at 7:00 p.m. from the Memorial Center.

ETSU can join Jacksonville atop the A-Sun standings at 9-1 with a win against USC Upstate, and would thus set up a first-place showdown in Jacksonville on Friday. The Bucs enter having won three straight, all at the Memorial Center and own the conference's best overall record at 14-5.

The Bucs began the streak by sweeping Lipscomb and Belmont, beating the Bisons in overtime and handing the Bruins their worst A-Sun loss ever. The Spartans also defeated the Bisons, as Carter Cook sank a 15-foot jumper with 11 seconds left for a 57-56 win one week ago then beat the Camels, 73-65, front start to finish, putting together back-to-back conference wins for just the second time in as many years in the league.

USC Upstate will have to try to corral ETSU's duo of Courtney Pigram and Kevin Tiggs, who rank first and second in the league in scoring (Tiggs, 21.1; Pigram, 19.1). USC Upstate’s Bobby Davis averages close to a double-double per game, averaging 14.5 points and 9.1 rebounds a night. His seven double-doubles ties him for the conference lead with Mercer's Daniel Emerson.

Matt Stewart and Sonny Smith will be on the call. For those outside of CSS markets, the game can also be seen on ASun.TV.
