Courtesy of BelmontBruins.com Sunday, April 05, 2009 DETROIT, MICH. - Belmont University men's basketball senior Andy Wicke (Hendersonville, Tenn.) has been named to the Lowe's All-Senior All-America Second Team. The 6-2 guard recently concluded his Bruin career with 1,236 points - good for sixth all-time on Belmont's NCAA-era scoring list. Wicke also finished his career second in Atlantic Sun Conference history in made three-point field goals with 303. In 2008-09, Wicke established single-season Belmont records for minutes played (1,056) and steals (70). He also was part of 88 Belmont victories and four postseason appearances - including three NCAA Tournaments - over his decorated four-year career. But beyond the on-court accomplishments, Wicke was named one of 10 finalists for the Lowe's Senior Class Award in large part to his dedication to academic success and community service. A five-time Atlantic Sun All-Academic selection and 2009 ESPN The Magazine Third Team Academic All-American, Wicke is on schedule to graduate with honors in environmental studies next month. |
