MACON, Ga. - Each day from Oct. 29th through Nov. 12th, the Atlantic Sun Conference will preview the upcoming 2010-11 men's basketball season with 11 Days of Atlantic Sun Men's Basketball. Today, we talk with Mezie Uzochukwu, a senior forward for the USC Upstate Spartans.

Top Returning Player: Mezie Uzochukwu, Senior Forward – A three-year starter for the Spartans, Uzochukwu returns for his senior season after his best statistical season in which he produced a career-high of 8.4 points per game and pulled down 6.5 boards per outing. USC Upstate’s top returning scorer, Uzochukwu posted double-digit in points 11 times with his season-high coming against UNF on the road in which he scored 15 and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Season Opening Game: The Spartans open the season 2010-11 season on the road against the Michigan Wolverines from the Big Ten Conference. USC Upstate returns two rising seniors, Uzochukwu and Josh Chavis, while bringing in eight freshmen to the team. The Wolverines finished last season with a 15-17 record and 7-11 in conference play.

Conference Game to Watch: USC Upstate at Stetson, Feb. 4th at 7 p.m. – Head Coach Eddie Payne takes the Spartans to DeLand, Fla. for a mid-season conference battle with the Hatters, a team they split the season series with last season. In their last visit to the Edmunds Center, USC Upstate fell by five points to the Hatters despite double-digit games from Nick Schneiders and Ryan LeGates.
