MACON, Ga. - Each day from Oct. 29th through Nov. 12th, the Atlantic Sun Conference will preview the upcoming 2010-11 men's basketball season with 11 Days of Atlantic Sun Men's Basketball. Today, we talk with Markeith Cummings, a sophomore all-conference guard for the Kennesaw State Owls. Roster Schedule 2010 Season Statistics 2010 Season Results Top Returning Scorer: Markeith Cummings, Sophomore Guard – Cummings, a 2010 A-Sun Preseason All-Conference team member, averaged 17.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game last season for the Owls en route to earning Second Team All-Conference and All-Freshman Team honors for his play. A Birmingham, Ala. native, Cummings ranked third in the nation in freshman scoring and fourth overall in the conference. A Two-Time Atlantic Sun Player of the Week, Cummings scored in double figures in 32 of 33 games, which included a season-high 32 points and 11 rebounds against Belmont on Dec. 3rd. He also added a 30-point game on the road at FGCU on Jan. 22nd. Season Opening Game: Kennesaw State vs. Georgia Southwestern, Nov. 12th at 7:30 p.m. - The Owls start the season with three-straight home games including a matchup with Georgia Tech in the second game of the season. Georgia Southwestern starts the home slate as the Owls enter the season following a 13-20 record in 2010 and an upset of top-seeded Lipscomb in the quarterfinals of the A-Sun Championship. Kennesaw State returns four starters to this year’s squad and also welcomes seven newcomers to the team. Conference Game to Watch: Kennesaw State at Campbell, Jan. 7th at 7 p.m. – The Owls and Camels meet to kick start the CSS Game of the Week schedule after the Fighting Camels swept the season meetings last year, which included a seven-point victory in Buies Creek. In that road game for the Owls, four players scored in double figures and were led by Cummings 15 points, but a six-point halftime lead was enough for Campbell to hold on for the victory.
