MACON, Ga. – Atlantic Sun Player of the Year Adnan Hodzic, from Lipscomb, set the Bisons’ Division I career scoring record leading the Bisons to a pair of road wins to win his fifth Player of the Week honor. Campbell’s Marvelle Harris registered his first double-double to win the Newcomer of the Week accolade, the conference announced on Tuesday.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Adnan Hodzic, Lipscomb
(F – Sr. – Sarajevo, Bosnia – Marketing)
- Fifth A-Sun Player of the Week award
- Averaged 18.0 PPG, 9.5 RPG, 66.7 FG Pct
- Led the Bisons to two non-conference road wins against Austin Peay and Tennessee Tech.
- Lipscomb improved to 4-0 against Ohio Valley Conference opponents.
- Scored 23 points, all in the second half, against Tennessee Tech to become Lipscomb's NCAA era leading scorer at 1,635 career points.
- Shot a perfect 9-of-9 from the field in the second half.
- Hodzic scored 13 points and brought down a season-high 17 rebounds at Austin Peay.
- His 17 boards represented nearly half of Austin Peay's total output (35).
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Jordan Campbell (Sr., Belmont) – Scored a career-high 24 points on 8-for-14 three-point shooting as Belmont defeated Middle Tennessee State, 88-87, in double overtime.
- Spencer Dixon (Jr., Kennesaw State) – Led the Owls with 24 points and eight assists and added three steals and four rebounds in the Owls 77-76 2OT loss at SIU Edwardsville.
- Jeff Smith (Sr., Mercer) – Led Bears in scoring with 22 points in win against Navy as MU snapped a four-game losing streak. It was his eighth double-figure scoring game this season.
- Micah Williams (Sr., ETSU) – In a huge win at SEC foe Mississippi State, he hit the game winning shot with just over 20 seconds left. For the week, he averaged 17.5 points per game.
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK:
Marvelle Harris, Campbell (F – Fr. – Macon, Ga. – Undeclared)
- First A-Sun Newcomer of the Week award
- Collected his first career double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds, in CU's 73-50 win over Southern Conference member Western Carolina.
- Shot 5-of-8 from the floor and hit season highs for boards and rejections (five).
- Over the last two games, Harris is averaging 13 points, 11 boards and 4.5 blocks while shooting 81.3 percent from the floor (13-16).
- He leads the A-Sun in FG Pct (66.7) and ranks fourth in blocks (1.88).
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Aaron Anderson (So., Kennesaw State) – Was a perfect 7-of-7 from the floor, notching 15 points and a career-high 12 rebounds to go along with two blocks against SIU Edwardsville.
- Babatunde Olumuyiwa (Fr., USC Upstate) – Led all Spartans with 14 points against NC State. He connected on a career-best six shots from the floor (nine attempts).
