Bruins Up to Five AP Poll Votes; Eighth in Mid-Major Poll

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Belmont received a program- best five votes in this week's AP Top 25 poll, one week after receiving three votes and moved up five spots to eighth in CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25.

This week marks the fourth consecutive week Belmont has received votes in either the Associated Press or ESPN/USA Today coaches' national polls. Belmont is among 22 programs receiving votes outside the Top 25 in the Associated Press poll. Joining the Bruins with five AP votes this week are three storied programs - Illinois, UCLA and UNLV. The Fighting Illini, Bruins, and Runnin' Rebels have a combined 27 Final Four appearances.

Three AP voters cast ballots with Belmont on their list. Ryan Thorburn from the Daily Camera in Boulder, Colo., placed the Bruins 23rd. Nick Jezierny from the Idaho Stateman and Michael Rothstein of AnnArbor.com voted Belmont 25th.

The Bruins have appeared in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll for the eighth straight week. The eight-place standing represents the program's highest ranking, besting their position of No. 11 that came at the end of the 2007-08 season

The Bruins defeated Jacksonville and North Florida this past week for their 11th and 12th victories away from home this season.
