Friday, February 11, 2011

MACON, Ga. - Seed positioning could be on the line when ETSU hosts Jacksonville in the A-Sun/CSS Game of the Week. The Bucs hold a game-and-a-half lead on the Dolphins for the second position. The Bucs have won the last four in the series, dating back to the 2009 General Shale Brick A-Sun Championship title clash.

During ETSU’s four-game win streak vs Jacksonville, Micah Williams has been the dominant player, scoring better than 17 points per game. He has shot 63.2 percent from the floor and 62.5 percent from beyond the 3-point arc.

Buccaneer senior Mike Smith has thrust his name into discussion for A-Sun Player of the Year. Over the past seven games (the seven immediately following a 9-point performance at Jacksonville), Smith has averaged close to 20 points per game, while shooting at close to 50 percent. He set single-game career highs for scoring against Kennesaw State and Mercer as he won his third Player of the Week award of the Year.

Delwan Graham began an eight-game run with Jacksonville’s first game against ETSU. After only starting once, he has started all eight games and nearly averaged a double-double - 11.9 points and 9.0 rebounds per game.

With a win, Jacksonville head coach Cliff Warren will pass Bob Wenzel for fourth on the school’s all-time win list

Matt Stewart and former ETSU head coach Sonny Smith will handle the broadcast. For those outside the CSS markets, catch all the action on ESPN3.com or on ESPN Full Court.
