Clark, Hall Shoot to A-Sun Hoops Weekly Honors

MACON, Ga. – Belmont’s Ian Clark and Mercer’s Langston Hall each hit on at least 60 percent from the 3-point arc leading their respective squads to postseason certainty. Clark earned his second Atlantic Sun Player of the Week this season while Hall won his first Newcomer of the Year award, the conference announced on Tuesday.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Ian Clark, Belmont (Guard – So. – Memphis, Tenn. – Undeclared)

  • Second A-Sun Player of the Week award this year; Third overall
  • Averaged 19.0 PPG, 5.0 RPG and 1.0 SPG per game in defeats of ETSU and USC Upstate
  • Shot 57 percent (12-21) from the field, including 8-13 from three-point distance
  • Scored 20 points against USC Upstate and recorded 18 points plus a season-high six rebounds against ETSU
  • Tallied seven of his 18 in the final 2:51 of regulation against the Bucs as the Bruins secured their fourth Atlantic Sun Conference regular-season championship in the past six years

OTHER NOMINEES:

  • Isiah Brown (Jr., ETSU) - Averaged 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 4.5 blocks; Posted double-double (22 points, 11 rebounds) at Lipscomb
  • Sherwood Brown (So., FGCU) - Scored game- and career-high 18 points on four 3-pointers against Stetson; Grabbed career-high nine rebounds in a win against Campbell
  • Markeith Cummings (So., Kennesaw State) - Averaged 25 points in three road contests; Record fourth 30+ point game at Mercer
  • Jerron Granberry (So., UNF) - Scored career high 28 points in win against Kennesaw State; Hit 3-pointer to tie score in first OT, then drilled 3-pointer at buzzer to force third OT
  • Ayron Hardy (Sr., Jacksonville) - Moved into 18th on JU’s scoring list and into second on the steals list; Became a member of the winningest class in program history
  • Brian Mills (Sr., Mercer) - Scored a career-high 34 points in win at UNF; Netted 18 including the game-winning basket against Kennesaw State
  • Josh Slater (Sr., Lipscomb) - Became the first Bison to record a triple-double in the NCAA era when he had 10 points, 12 assists, and 10 steals Thursday against USC Upstate

 

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK:
Langston Hall, Mercer (Guard – Fr. – Atlanta, Ga. – Accounting)

  • First A-Sun Newcomer of the Week award
  • Scored a career-high 22 points in loss at Jacksonville
  • Made a career-best nine field goals against the Dolphins on 75 percent shooting
  • Matched season-high with seven assists at UNF
  • Helped Mercer secure 27th A-Sun Championship berth
  • Shot 60 percent for the 3-point arc in three games, connecting on 6-of-10 tries

OTHER NOMINEES:

  • Ricardo Glenn (Fr., USC Upstate) - Led the Spartans in scoring against both Lipscomb and Belmont last week and tied for lead in rebounds
  • Delwan Graham (Jr., Jacksonville) - Reached double figures against Kennesaw State and Mercer, own streak of three straight double-digit scoring games
  • Eric Griffin (Jr., Campbell) - Scored 14 points in win at Stetson, then added a double-double (13 points, 12 rebounds) at FGCU; Needs two blocks to set a new school single-season record
  • Marlon Rivera (Jr., FGCU) - Led Eagles to a 2-0 week; Totaled 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists against Stetson; Scored nine points and grabbed a team-best 10 rebounds vs Campbell
  • Jimmy Williams (Jr., UNF) - Posted back-to-back double figure performances; Scored 18 points vs Mercer plus eight rebounds; Scored 13 points in win against Kennesaw State
