Monday, March 14, 2011 INDIANAPOLIS - Belmont, the 2011 General Shale Brick Atlantic Sun Men's Basketball Champion, earned the No. 13 seed in the Southeast Region. The Bruins will face No. 4 Wisconsin on Thursday in Tucson, Ariz. Belmont set the conference record for wins in a season - breaking the record set by College of Charleston in 1996-97 and Georgia State in 2000-01. The 2000-01 Georgia State owns the conference's last NCAA Tournament win. As the No. 11 seed, Georgia State beat Wisconsin, 50-49, in Boise, Idaho. The Bruins won the A-Sun title game by 41 points – just the third conference title game in the country decided by at least 40 points. In conference play, they defeated A-Sun opponents by 20.9 points per games – the widest scoring margin in the country since 1998-99 when national runner-up Duke boasted a 24.4 point per game margin. |
