NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's basketball senior forward Mick Hedgepeth (Crossville, Ala.) has been named to the 2011-12 Lou Henson Preseason All-America Team, released Wednesday.

Hedgepeth, who earned Atlantic Sun Tournament MVP and Second Team All-Atlantic honors last season, was named Preseason All-Atlantic Sun by the league office Oct. 12.

The 6-9 co-captain enters his senior campaign with 42 career double figure scoring games and is 145 points shy of 1,000 for his career.

Hedgepeth was one of 25 men's college basketball players named to the Lou Henson Preseason All-America Team, which honors the top mid-major players in the nation.

The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the top mid-major player in Division I college basketball. Henson retired in 2005 with 779 career victories. In a career that spanned four decades, Henson is one of only 12 coaches ever to lead two programs to the Final Four.
