- As a conference, the A-Sun stands at 26-23 for a .531 winning percentage. The A-Sun owns a winning record against 12 of the 20 other conferences it has faced this season, which includes 11 undefeated records.
- A-Sun Conference play gets underway on Thursday, December 1st with six teams in action. Last year, Belmont captured the regular-season crown and set a conference record with 19 league victories. The previous best was 18 in 2004.
- ETSU’s Isaiah Brown and North Florida’s Matt Sauey currently sit in the A-Sun career record books for blocked shots. Brown’s 146 career swats ranks 13th best, while Sauey’s 114 is tied for 21st.
- For the third-straight week, Belmont appeared in the top-five of the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll. This week, the Bruins dropped to No. 5 from third. ETSU received votes in this week’s poll. The Bruins are also receiving votes in the AP Poll.
- Stetson and USC Upstate are off to great starts for the season. The Hatters sit at 3-2 on the season, which is their best start since the 2000-01 season. Also at 3-2 early on, the Spartans’ record is the best since 2006-07.
- At 4-2, Mercer leads the A-Sun in wins. The last 4-2 start for the Bears came only three seasons ago (2008-09) when MU kicked off the season at 6-2. The last time Mercer led the A-Sun in total wins at the end of the season was 1980-81 (18-11).
- Lipscomb captured the Cancun Challenge Mayan Division Title with two wins in Mexico this week. The Bisons defeated Sacred Heart and SIU Edwardsville to earn the non-conference crown. It marks the second-straight season an A-Sun squad has claimed the title as North Florida won the same title last season.
- Despite a 2-3 record, only 15 points separates FGCU and a 5-0 start to the season. The Eagles have two one-point losses early in the year (at TCU, at SMU) and fell on the road to Miami by only 10 points.
- Jacksonville alumnus Travis Cohn signed to play for the Springfield Armor of the NBA Development League on Wednesday. Cohn averaged more than 10 points per game as a senior and helped lead the Dolphins to three straight-postseason appearances, including trips to the second round of the NIT and CIT. He makes his professional debut on Friday night as the NBDL season tips off.
- With 1194 career points, Kennesaw State’s junior Markeith Cummings ranks 81st all-time in the A-Sun record books for career points. With his 14 points against Reinhardt on Wednesday, Cummings passed four former A-Sun greats including ETSU’s Micah Williams (2007-11).
