Monday, December 12, 2011 NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Belmont men's basketball is ranked No. 6 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll for the week of Dec. 12. The Bruins, who have held their No. 6 ranking for three consecutive weeks, defeated Tennessee State this past week to extend their home court win streak to 20 games. Belmont has been ranked in the top 6 in each of the six Mid-Major Top 25 polls this season. Mercer – off to its best start since 2004-05 with a 7-3 overall record – received a single point to earn a spot among 27 schools in the “Others Receiving Votes” outside the top-25 teams. “We are certainly very grateful for the recognition,” MU head coach Bob Hoffman said. “It’s an important step that there are people out there who recognize the success of our program and that this team is playing at a high level right now. There’s still a long way to go this season, but it’s nice to see the Bears included among the nation’s best.” Creighton received 21 of 31 first-place votes to top the poll this week.
