Thursday, January 12, 2012 MACON, GA – Kennesaw State Head Men's Basketball Coach Lewis Preston will be the guest on the weekly Atlantic Sun Insider, featured on the Friday, Jan. 13, edition of "The Morning Show" on FOX Sports 1670 AM. First-year coach Preston is slated to be on The Insider at approximately 8:30 a.m. He brings his Kennesaw State Owls (3-14, 0-6 A-Sun) to face Mercer (12-7, 5-2 A-Sun) at 7:00 p.m., at the University Center on the campus of Mercer University. The game is the A-Sun Friday Night Game of the Week, airing on CSS and ESPN3, with Matt Stewart and Sonny Smith on the call. Kennesaw State’s duo of Markeith Cummings and Spencer Dixon are the best 1-2 punch in the A-Sun, when it comes to point production. Their combined 29.9 PPG is the most in the A-Sun. They are also first and second amongst active players in career points with 1399 and 1137, respectively. Mercer’s defense has led the conference nearly all season long. The Bears are best in scoring defense (64.7), defensive field-goal percentage (.396), three-point defense (.317) and blocked shots (4.8). However, in five of its seven losses this season the Bears’ opponents have shot better than .445 from the floor. In eight of its 12 wins, Mercer has held its opponents below .390 from the field. The Atlantic Sun Conference is partnering with the local Fox Sports 1670 AM as a part of its promotional efforts of men’s and women’s basketball leading up to the 2012 General Shale Atlantic Sun Basketball Championships, Feb. 29-March 3, at the University Center on the campus of Mercer University. Included in the partnership, The Atlantic Sun Insider is a regular segment to highlight weekly A-Sun action on the Friday edition of “The Morning Show” with Daniel Shirley and Charles Olson. A schedule of radio spots will also run during the station’s local and syndicated shows, and additional coverage will include live broadcasts during the championships from the University Center on the station’s local afternoon show, “The Bill Shanks Show.” The Atlantic Sun Conference is an NCAA Division I league with 10 member institutions committed to Building Winners for Life.
