MACON, Ga. - FGCU's Sherwood Brown picked up his first career Atlantic Sun Men's Basketball Player of the Week Honor, while Stetson's Chris Perez was named the conference's Newcomer of the Week for the first time. Brown led the Eagles to a 2-1 week with two double-doubles, while Perez posted 22 points in a win vs. Kennesaw State.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Sherwood Brown, FGCU (Jr. – Guard – Orlando, Fla. – Biology)
- First Career Player of the Week award
- Averaged 16.3 PPG, 9.7 RPG on a 2-1 week for the Eagles
- Totaled 20 points and 10 rebounds in blowout win vs. Longwood
- Added 14 points and six rebounds in home victory vs. Kennesaw State
- Finished week with 15 points and 13 boards with a career-high seven offensive rebounds vs. Mercer
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Aaron Anderson (Jr., Kennesaw State) – Netted his third and fourth consecutive double-doubles
- Matt Sauey (Sr., North Florida) – Notched his first career double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds vs. Lipscomb
- Ricardo Glenn (So., USC Upstate) – Grabbed a career-best 17 rebounds in Spartans' win vs. ETSU
- Jacob Gollon (So., Mercer) – Led Bears to two road wins at Stetson and FGCU with 13.5 PPG and eight assists
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK:
Chris Perez, Stetson (So. – Guard/Forward – Santiago, D.R. – Elementary Education)
- First Career Newcomer of the Week award
- Posted a game-high 22 points vs. Kennesaw State to snap Hatter's losing streak
- Contributed eight rebounds and four assists vs. the Owls
- Added 14 points and five rebounds against Mercer
- Moved Hatters into a tie for seventh place in A-Sun
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Delbert Love (Fr., Kennesaw State) – Netted 16 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and four steals at Stetson
- Brett Comer (Fr., FGCU) – Averaged 8.7 PPG, 9.3 APG, 3.3 RPG and 2.7 SPG in three Eagle contests
- Ty Greene (Fr., USC Upstate) – Finished with 17 points at Jacksonville State after adding 11 vs. ETSU
