MACON, Ga. - USC Upstate's Torrey Craig and Lipscomb's Khion Sankey corralled the Atlantic Sun Men's Basketball Weekly Honors, announced Tuesday by the league office.
Craig set a new career-high for points with a 31-point outing against Texas-San Antonio in a 11-point win for the Spartans - their 10th-straight at the Hodge Center. Sankey guided the Bisons to a 86-62 win at UT-Martin with an all-around effort of seven points, seven rebounds and four assists.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Torrey Craig, USC Upstate (F – Jr. – Great Falls, S.C. – Communications)
- Fourth Career A-Sun Player of the Week honor; first this season
- Set a career-high with 31 points in a 11-point win vs. UTSA
- Shot 9-of-15 from the floor including two three-pointers
- Added an 11-of-14 effort from the charity stripe
- Currently leads A-Sun in scoring at 19.2 PPG
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Adam Pegg (C, Stetson) - Poured in a season-best 22 points vs. FAU; added double-double vs. FIU
- Rashawn Rembert (G, ETSU) - Led the Bucs in scoring at North Carolina with 18
- Martin Smith (F, Lipscomb) - Posted a career-high 22 points in road win vs. UT-Martin
- Daniel Coursey (C, Mercer) - Led Mercer in scoring in both contests; averaged 12.5 PPG
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK:
Khion Sankey, Lipscomb (G – Jr. – Stockton, Calif.)
- First Career Newcomer of the Week honor
- Averaged 11 points, six rebounds and 2.5 assists on the week
- Posted a season-best 15 points against Belmont
- Produced all-around game at UT-Martin with seven points, seven rebounds and four assists
- Shot 56.2 percent from the field (9-of-165)
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Marcellous Bell (G, Jacksonville) - Led Dolphins in scoring with 17 at South Carolina off the bench
