MACON, Ga. - North Florida's Travis Wallace and Lipscomb's Stephen Hurt picked up the Atlantic Sun Men's Basketball Weekly Honors, announced Wednesday by the league office.
Wallace led the Ospreys to the Las Vegas Classic title with wins vs. CSU Bakersfield and Georgia Southern, while averaging 23 points. LU's Hurt registered two double-doubles on the week including a 23-point, 18-rebound effort at Austin Peay.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Travis Wallace, North Florida (F – Jr. – Marietta, Ga. – Criminal Justice)
- First Career A-Sun Player of the Week honor
- Named Tournament MVP of the Las Vegas Classic
- Averaged 23 points and eight rebounds in three contests
- Shot 75 percent from the field on 27-of-36 shooting
- Extended double-digit scoring streak to 10 games
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Chris Perez (G, FGCU) - Hit game-winning shot at the buzzer vs. FAU; averaged 18.0 PPG
- Daniel Coursey (C, Mercer) - Scored a career-high 20 points in win at Alabama
- Ricardo Glenn (F, USC Upstate) - Tallied second straight double-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds
- Jalen Billups (F, Northern Kentucky) - Guided Norse to two-straight wins by averaging 14.0 PPG and 9.5 RPG
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK:
Stephen Hurt, Lipscomb (C – Fr. – Memphis, Tenn.)
- Second Career Newcomer of the Week honor; second straight award
- Posted back-to-back double-doubles for third-straight
- Tallied 23 points and 18 rebounds in win at Austin Peay
- Added 15 points and 13 rebounds at Memphis
- Averaged 19.0 PPG and 15.5 RPG
