MACON, Ga. – The Atlantic Sun Conference has engaged Greg Shaheen of OSM Advisors as a consultant to analyze the current structure of A-Sun basketball and develop a plan to enhance its profile.

“Greg Shaheen’s experience is unparalleled when it comes to analyzing the components that will allow us to raise the profile of A-Sun basketball, and we are very excited about having OSM Advisors and Greg as part of the A-Sun team,” said A-Sun Commissioner Ted Gumbart. “The A‑Sun Presidents Council has been extremely supportive of our overall conference initiatives in basketball, and its support for an expert consultant reinforces the commitment we have to continue progress for our collective basketball programs.”

Shaheen is collecting and evaluating data and personal input regarding A-Sun basketball. The first stage of this work will involve a review of tournament format and future options. Further work throughout the spring will expand to all facets of A-Sun basketball.

“It's an honor to work with the Atlantic Sun and a pleasure to have them join our client roster as we conduct a strategic review to strengthen their approach in basketball on a variety of fronts,” said Shaheen. “The Atlantic Sun membership has already had a significant review and dialogue on various matters, and their commitment to advance is encouraging. I look forward to aiding in the effort to put those plans into action."

For three decades, Greg Shaheen has served private- and public-sector roles, managing large corporate staffs, providing strategic guidance, as well as complex contract negotiations. In his most recent post at the NCAA, Shaheen oversaw the strategic development of all 89 NCAA Championships as well as the operations of the NCAA Division I men’s basketball championship. Shaheen led the team responsible for the negotiation of the NCAA’s 13-year, $11.5+ billion contracts with CBS, Turner, and ESPN. Shaheen also led a team responsible for broadening the variety of activities surrounding the NCAA Final Four, and was integral in the development of key information and support systems for the Division I Men’s Basketball Committee that have been implemented across other NCAA championships. Shaheen developed the “mock selection” media sessions which “enlightened the public that the selection process was legitimate and first-rate".
