MACON, Ga. - Led by two 20-point wins, FGCU swept the Atlantic Sun Men's Basketball Weekly Awards with Sherwood Brown and Eric McKnight claiming the accolades.
Brown became the first men's basketball student-athlete in FGCU history with 1,000 career points and 500 rebounds, while McKnight averaged solid numbers in limited minutes for the Eagles in two wins.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Sherwood Brown, FGCU (G – Sr. – Orlando, Fla. – Legal Studies)
- Fourth Career A-Sun Player of the Week honor; third this season
- Averaged 19 PPG, 4.5 RPG and 2 SPG in two FGCU victories
- Tallied 17 points, five rebounds, three steals and three blocks vs. ETSU
- Added 21 points and four rebounds against USC Upstate
- Became first player in FGCU history with 1,000 career point and 500 rebounds
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Adam Pegg (C, Stetson) - Extended double-digit scoring streak to 19 games with 19 and 10 point contests
- Aaron Anderson (F, Kennesaw State) - Averaged a double-double with 10 PPG and 12.5 RPG in two games
- Langston Hall (PG, Mercer) - Led Bears to two wins; added a season-high 23 points in win vs. Jacksonville
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK:
Eric McKnight, FGCU (F – So. – Raleigh, N.C. – Communications)
- Third Career Newcomer of the Week honor
- Averaged 10 PPG and six rebounds in two FGCU wins in only 21 minutes per game
- Shot 80 percent from the field on the week (8-of-10)
- Pulled down six rebounds in each of FGCU's wins vs. ETSU and USC Upstate
- Helped FGCU stay in first place in the A-Sun
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Myles Hamilton (G, Kennesaw State) - Totaled nine points, five rebounds, three assists and two blocks vs. JU
- Kordario Fleming (F, Jacksonville) - Tallied a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds vs. Mercer
