MACON, Ga. - Two of the top centers in the Atlantic Sun earned the men's basketball weekly honors as Stetson's Adam Pegg and Lipscomb's Stephen Hurt posted top performances this week.
Pegg led the Hatters to two road conference victories by averaging 20 PPG and 8.5 RPG and picked up his fourth double-double of the season, while Hurt claimed his fourth Newcomer of the Week honor after guiding the Bisons to a win vs. FGCU with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Adam Pegg, Stetson (C – Sr. – Clearwater, Fla. – Integrative Health Science)
- First Career A-Sun Player of the Week honor
- Led Stetson to two key road conference victories at Lipscomb, NKU
- Averaged 20 PPG, 8.5 RPG on 15-of-26 shooting
- Tallied 23 points, 12 rebounds in 10-point win vs. Lipscomb
- Followed with 17 points and five rebounds against the Norse
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Torrey Craig (F, USC Upstate) - Averaged 26.5 PPG, 7.5 RPG and 2.5 APG on the week
- Bernard Thompson (G, FGCU) - Produced fifth 20-point road game of the season with 23 at Lipscomb
- Markeith Cummings (F, Kennesaw State) - Reached 2,000 career points with 28 point effort at USC Upstate
- Deonte Alexander (G, Lipscomb) - Poured in 14 points, two assists and two steals in LU's win vs. FGCU
- Will Wilson (PG, North Florida) - Missed a double-double by one assist (13 points, nine assists) vs. JU
- Jakob Gollon (F, Mercer) - Averaged 12 points, 8.5 rebounds in two Mercer road wins
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK:
Stephen Hurt, Lipscomb (C – Fr. – Murfreesboro, Tenn.)
- Fourth Career Newcomer of the Week honor
- Led Bisons to win vs. FGCU with 20 points and 10 rebounds
- On the week, averaged 16 PPG, 7.5 RPG on 13-of-19 shooting
- Added 12 points and five rebounds against Stetson
- Ranks third in the A-Sun in rebounding (8.1); second in double-doubles (8)
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Jarvis Haywood (G, Jacksonville) - Scored 19 points with nine rebounds in two-point win vs. North Florida
