TV Package Primed for Increased Exposure

MACON, Ga. – The Atlantic Sun Conference enjoys one of the best regional sports cable packages for all mid-major conferences. Plans now call for increased exposure for the A-Sun Friday Night Game of the Week, the 30-minute This Week in the A-Sun magazine show, and the A-Sun Tournament game coverage. Through an agreement with CAP Sports Group, the A-Sun is seeking to gain syndicated clearance for major southeast markets that are not currently receiving the broadcasts on CSS.

“We want to continue to capitalize on one of our major assets,” said A-Sun Commissioner Bill Bibb. “Our Game of the Week is a tremendous tool for showcasing our schools and student-athletes. It is a natural move to work on gaining further clearance for these games throughout the southeast, and CAP Sports offers a great fit for managing our program development.”

The A-Sun has a broadcast partnership with CSS (Comcast Sports Southeast/Charter Sports Southeast) that calls for distribution of both the Friday Night Game of the Week and This Week in the Atlantic Sun. With recent launch in more than one million new homes, CSS now reaches more than 4.5 million homes throughout the A-Sun footprint. The agreement with CAP Sports Group calls for independent syndication of the games in major A-Sun markets where the fans do not currently have access to CSS.

“To further the exposure for game productions already on the air makes perfect sense for the A-Sun,” said CAP Sports Group President Curt Pires. “CAP Sports has programming relationships and strategic planning approaches that will be able to provide a productive plan for the A-Sun. It is exciting to work on expanding a great product that is already in place with the A-Sun television package.”
