Macon, Ga. -- Buzzer beating finishes and close games have been the
standard when the senior members of the Atlantic Sun get together and no one
expects any less as Mercer faces Stetson at the Edmunds Center in the CSS/A-Sun
Game of the Week Friday night. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 pm. Matt Stewart and
Sonny Smith will be on hand to give play-by-play and color analysis for the
regionally televised game.
Mercer's James Florence continues to put his own stamp on the A-Sun in his
rookie season. The point guard scored 33 points in Mercer’s home win over Gardner-Webb
last Monday. Florence followed with a 28-point outing in a disappointing loss
at Jacksonville. For the year, Florence is averaging a league-best 18.7 points
per game. He joins Texas superstar Kevin Durant as the only freshmen currently
leading their conference in scoring.
Stetson counters with a balanced attack paced by senior Gabe McMillan and Garfield
Blair. McMillen leads the Hatters in steals and assists, while Blair leads the
team in scoring, averaging 13.6 points per game.

Week in the A-Sun, the league's 30-minute magazine show. This week Stetson
looks for its 300th win at the Edmunds Center. The Hatters have won nearly 67
