Macon, Ga. – Florida Atlantic’s Rodney Webb used a phenomenal week on the court to lift the Owls to within one game of the league lead and capture his first career Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week award.
Webb averaged 27.0 points and 9.0 rebounds while shooting 82.6% (19-of-23) from the field, 75.0% (6-of-8) from three-point range and 83.3% (10-of-12) at the free throw line in two FAU victories – 93-87 over ETSU and 81-62 over Kennesaw State. The senior forward scored a career-high 30 points while knocking down a career-best 10 free throws and hitting 9-of-12 from the field in the crucial victory over the Bucs. Webb’s 30 points is the highest individual total by any Owl this season. He netted 21 points in the second half alone to help FAU hold off ETSU, which outscored the Owls 58-51 during the final 20 minutes. Webb followed that up by shooting a career-best 10-of-11 from the field and draining a career-high four three-pointers in win over Kennesaw State.
For the season, Webb is averaging 15.7 points and 7.9 rebounds per game overall while adding a slightly more impressive 16.7 points and 8.1 rebounds per game in conference play. His nine double-doubles this season ranks third in the conference. Webb majors in Criminal Justice. With the two wins, FAU joins ETSU and Gardner-Webb in a three-way tie for third in the conference standings, trailing league leaders Belmont and Lipscomb by just one game heading into the final weekend of competition.
