Date Posted: 2/26/2006
Lipscomb clinched the top seed in next week's 2006
General Shale Brick Atlantic Sun Championship in convincing
fashion while Boulevard rival Belmont won their sixth straight home game by
double figures to claim a share of the regular season title on Sunday afternoon.
The Bisons blasted Kennesaw State 77-48 in Allen Arena behind 20 points from
Eddie Ard. Lipscomb wins their first regular season title since joining the
A-Sun four years ago.
Belmont equalled their long-time rival with a decisive 99-78 win over tournament
host ETSU. Senior Brian Collins put up 20 points, six assists and five rebounds
in his final home game at the Curb Event Center to help the Bruins land their
first ever A-Sun title as well.
The championship gets underway on Thursday when top-seeded Lipscomb faces
#8 Mercer in the opeing game.
