Courtesy BelmontBruins.com Wednesday, October 22, 2008 MACON, Ga. - With the 2008 Atlantic Sun Conference Cross Country Championships around the corner, Belmont's Caleb Swartz earned his second A-Sun Runner of the Week award of 2008, the conference office announced on Wednesday. The Radcliff, Ky. senior placed fifth out of 239 participants crossing the finish line with a career-best time of 24:45.15 at the Evansville Invitational on Saturday. The biology major led Belmont to a second place finish out of 22 teams. The Bruins run for a six-peat at the conference championships on November 1. The Atlantic Sun Conference is an 11-member league committed to Building Winners for Life. The A-Sun stands for achievement with integrity in both the academic and athletic arenas, with a focus on the balance between the two for our student-athletes. Headquartered in Macon, Ga., the A-Sun boasts six of the top eight media markets in the Southeast. Other Top Performers Scott Burley, Kennesaw State (Sr. - Chemistry - Brockville, Ontario) - Placed fifth with a time of 15:19 in the 5K race out of 65 competitors;Led the Owls to a fourth place finish in the RunFit Invitational Roland Adams, Mercer (Jr. - Biomedical Engineering - Suwanee, Ga.) - Led Bears to a fifth-place finish in the third annual JSU Foothills Invitational Saturday; Adams, who was just 17 seconds off his personal-best led the Bears with a 13th place finish in the 8K event; Marked the sixth consecutive meet that the Suwanee, Ga., native has paced the Bears this season. |
