A-Sun's Top Runners Turn in Top-20 Times at Regionals

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Much like the Atlantic Sun Championships, the league's two-time Runners of the Year, ETSU's Ken Rotich and Belmont's Brittany Thune led the way for A-Sun competition at the NCAA South Regional Qualifier, on Saturday morning in Tuscaloosa, Ala., at the Harry Pritchett Running Park.

ETSU's Rotich turned in the best time among A-Sun runners, finishing 19th in a time of 31:02.66. His closest A-Sun competition came from fellow Buc, Benjamin Ronoh (21:09.32). In the team race, freshman Nabil Hamid led the A-Sun champion Kennesaw State Owls to an eighth-place team finish, followed by Belmont (10th), ETSU (13th), Lipscomb (16th) and UNF in 22nd.

Belmont's Thune paced the A-Sun competition, placing 16th with a time of 20:52.80, with Kennesaw State's Mackenize Howe crossing the line just six seconds behind her at 18th place at 20:58.62. A-Sun champion Jacksonville, led by senior Elsabeth Goshu, placed a program-best ninth, followed by UNF (11th), Belmont (14th) and Lipscomb in 19th.
