Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Cross Country Notebook and Poll

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

MACON, Ga. – Kennesaw State men's cross country team remained atop the Atlantic Sun Men's Cross Country Poll, but lost two of its first-place votes to Belmont, who gained five points in the poll and trails the Owls by only one vote. Lipscomb jumped ahead of Mercer in the rankings from seventh to sixth for the only movement in the poll.

Cross Country Notes:
• Kennesaw State's Nabil Hamid has had quite the start to the 2011 season in his first two meets. After finishing second at the Auburn Invitational two weeks ago, Hamid followed that performance by winning the Georgia State Invitational on Saturday. The Owls finished second at both meets.

• For the second-straight week, four A-Sun teams were ranked in the USTFCCCA South Region Poll with Belmont (6th), North Florida (10th), ETSU (12th) and Lipscomb (15th) appearing in the poll. Kennesaw State received preseason recognition in poll to give the A-Sun five teams that have been regionally ranked early in the season.

• Mercer played host to the RunFit Sport Invitational and captured the team title for the second-straight season. Sonny Prosper led the charge with his second-place finish in 25:36.22, while three of his teammates joined him in the top-10.
