ETSU Takes Top Spot in Men's #ASunXC Preseason Poll

MACON, Ga. - ETSU paced the Atlantic Sun Men’s Cross Country teams as they landed six first-place votes to garner first place in the A-Sun Preseason Coaches Poll, announced Thursday by the league office.

The Buccaneers are led by the A-Sun Preseason Runner of the Year Fillip Jalovy, a two-time first team all-conference member. Jalovy finished third in the 2012 A-Sun Championship, just five seconds behind the second-place runner.

The Bucs garnered 94 points in the preseason poll and return five of their top-seven finishers from the last year's championship.

Lipscomb received 74 points in the coaches poll to claim second place. At the 2012 A-Sun Championship, the Bisons placed three harriers on the all-freshman team.

Coming in third, Kennesaw State received two first-place votes in the coaches poll to collect 67 points. The Owls have finished top-three in the A-Sun Championship for the last five years with two championship titles in that span.

Rounding off the top-five is FGCU with 65 points and returning A-Sun Champion USC Upstate with 63 points.

Northern Kentucky’s J.J Webber received the most votes from the fans to collect the fan voted Preseason Runner of the Year with 73 total votes cast. The Norse came in at No. 6 in the coaches poll with 53 points.
