Belmont Captures Belmont Intercollegiate Team Title

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With a four-under par team score of 280 in Tuesday’s final round, the Belmont men’s golf team won the team title at the 2006 Comfort Inn and Suites Belmont Intercollegiate held at Old Natchez Country Club in Franklin, Tennessee. It was the second team championship the Bruins have won this season and marked the first time that BU has won their own event.
Belmont finished with a 54-hole team score of 853 (286-287-280), which was 13 shots ahead of second place Eastern Kentucky. They finished 17 shots ahead of third place finisher Tennessee Tech.
The Bruins had four golfers among the top-15. Senior Adam Wynia finished in third place after carding a 209 over three rounds, including a 67 in the final round. Fellow seniors Brenton Flynn and Mike Martin finished tied for fifth and tied for 12th respectively. Flynn posted a score of 213, including a 68 on Tuesday, while Martin carded a 217.
